Supplemental Research Programs

The MAST Center has the opportunity to apply for and receive grants for supplemental research programs and opportunities due to it’s identity as an NSF IUCRC. We are the lucky recipients of many of these supplemental funding opportunities which helps us reach a broader community. These programs are all funded by the National Science Foundation.

REU: Research Experiences for Undergraduates

The University of Arkansas MAST Center has participated in the REU Program since 2016. More details can be found on the UAF CHEG REU website here.

REM: Research Experience and Mentoring

The University of Arkansas MAST Center participated in the REM program for the first time in 2022 and has continued the program into 2024. UAF has also launched a REM partnership with the University of Arkansas Upward Bound program to get under-reached high school students into University labs.

RET: Research Experiences for Teachers

The University of Arkansas MAST Center has participated in the RET Program since 2020.

START: Skills Training in Advanced Research & Technology

The University of Arkansas MAST Center participated in the START program for the first time in 2022 and was awarded funding to continue the program in subsequent years.
